The truly impressive (and frankly unexpected) thing was how quickly I got an effective response to both issues. Max sent out a second order at no cost, and even threw in a small bonus amount, despite being in no way responsible for my country's customs procedures.

Net result is with a couple of tweaks in how the order was shipped (suggested by Max), I received it.
